NETWORK TECHNICIAN |
| One (1) year of technical experience in the installation and maintenance of data networks, Local Area Networks (LANs), data links, PCs, terminals and peripherals using appropriate hardware and software tools. |
| Functional Responsibility: |
Maintains supporting documentation and assists users with operational needs. Familiar with computer technology and equipment, various vendor models of communications equipment, modems, CRTs, printers, PCs, LANs and other related data communications hardware and software. Maintains service levels of data communications by monitoring, testing, and maintenance of hardware, lines, PCs, LANs and other equipment and communication software. Assists users with problems. Provides guidance and direction as needed. Installs data communications equipment according to manufacturer's instructions, Works with equipment vendors to request service, obtain order information and assure proper device installation. Confirms software, as needed on LANs, PCs and other communication devices. Organizes network configuration documentation. Maintains records on all network installations and on tests performed for preventive maintenance and/or problem resolution. |

Completion of an accredited Apprentice Program in Networking, Electronics or Communications. |
