Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)What is VT Milcom's goal in a diversified marketplace? The underlying philosophy of VT Milcom is the belief that excellence is the only acceptable standard of performance. Simply stated, our goal is to become a leader in providing high-quality, cost-competitive engineering and technical support services to our Federal and Industry customers. How successful is VT Milcom in the marketplace? There's no secret to over three decades of growth. VT Milcom's strategy is to be the best in the markets where we have chosen to focus our expertise. From there, we successfully apply award-winning business, technical, and functional skills to areas that are vital to our clients. What does VT Milcom provide its customers?Fundamentally, we are in the business of providing our customers with engineering design, fabrication, and installation of electronic and communication systems and equipment. Our most important value is to place the customer first. In doing so, we have established significant repeat business with our customers for the quality and responsiveness of our service; are most highly regarded by the customer for the excellence and commitment of our people; and are most respected for the value we provide our customers. Our success depends upon our ability to understand the customers' needs, the timing of our responses, and our ability to serve our customer better than the competition. How profitable and sound is VT Milcom? Our profit growth objectives are attainable and built on sound strategies. VT Milcom's resource base has grown to over 700 employees located nationwide and operates from a contractual base of over $800 million. We strongly feel that profit is a requirement, not a residual. It must be planned in advance and premiums placed on achievement. We believe that it is possible to grow a business profitably at an aggressive rate; however, a sustained and progressive growth rate enables management to more accurately chart the course of the corporation. Our marketing strategy is to expand our customer base by selectively targeting new commercial markets which enhance VT Milcom's role as an Information Technology (IT) contractor. Selective expansion of our customer base strengthens our position in the industry and affords future potential for diversification. To us, the absence of progressive growth and profit has a negative reflection on the ability and imagination of management. Does VT Milcom ever consider itself in a Subcontractor role? Our role in the marketplace is that of a Prime Contractor. However, consistent growth has allowed us to compete in a wider range of the marketplace and expand or create new business units within the corporation. Strategies which involve the company's participation in other than a Prime role are viewed judiciously and prioritized on a case-to-case basis so that our corporate resources (human, capital, and physical) are not put at risk when management seeks to pursue opportunities which demand large commitments of these resources. By doing so, our established reputation will not be subjected to jeopardy. How does VT Milcom regard its relationships with subcontractors and vendors? Our subcontractor and vendor relationships are demanding yet fair. VT Milcom actively seeks business relationships with Small Businesses, Small Disadvantaged Businesses, Woman-Owned Small Businesses, HUBZone Small Businesses, Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business concerns. We expect the same results from our subcontractors and vendors as we demand of ourselves. Our customers expect excellence and it must be achieved by all those with whom we are involved. How is VT Milcom's management structured? In our business of providing services to the customer, people are the competitive edge. We believe that management should be comprised of a balance of the business experiences that are relevant to the requirements we currently face and anticipate in the future. We strongly feel that management should represent a creative blend of engineering, technical, operations, marketing, financial, and administrative backgrounds. What is the "work ethic" at VT Milcom and how does VT Milcom's management regard its people?Excellence requires a blend of talented people who enjoy their commitment. Working should be more than a way of earning money. It should provide an opportunity for personnel expression, fulfillment and creativity. We respect, recognize and reward employees. We recruit and are committed to the personal and professional development of people who share these views about their careers. We believe in helping our employees develop their full potential through training and work experience. Average commitment is not tolerated because we feel that extraordinary commitment distinguishes the outstanding. At VT Milcom, exceptional performance earns exceptional compensation.
